The Barra Saga Begins...

It’s 3.30pm on Sunday and we decided to go for an Italian Restaurant for lunch. Actually we were craving for bed but ones definitely could never get a sleep with hungry stomach. It’s just a 5 minutes walking distance from the hotel along the Barra beach or they call it Lucio Costa. Thanks God, the Restaurant Manager speaks English other than Portugese and the menu has English translation too. Again we ordered pizza and pasta. After lunch, we went back to the hotel and straight to bed. We slept through out dinner.

I woke up around 9pm and was so hungry. Ate some biscuits from home and caught a few movies on TV. Went back to sleep and woke up again every 2 hours. Oh… I sure hate the jetlag. At the end, I woke up about 5.30am and it was dawn already. Performed the prayers and did some ironing. I still managed to catch a few sitcoms on TV while getting ready for work.

Our jaw dropped when we set our eyes on him for the first time. Ouchhhhh! He’s gorgeous. He’s our focal point here and the team lead of the local project team. Hahahaha… if I could capture M’s face (one of my colleagues with me) that day…its definitely will turn out funny. We met him for breakfast as planned and whenever he left for the buffet table, all of us will be talking in Bahasa about him. It’s really funny and we kept smiling through out the breakfast and journey to the office. Ok enough about the hunk.

The office is quite nice and has an overhead bridge to the Barra Shopping Complex (BSC), the biggest shopping mall in Amazon. Lunch was at the Benki Sushi in that shopping mall. Yeah we had to go to Japanese as they offer seafood instead of meat. We made a plan for the night and planned to go back to that shopping mall for window shopping and dinner too.

We left the hotel around 6.30pm, grabbed a hotel cab to BSC. We asked the driver to come and pick us up around 9.30pm but he insisted that we call the cab counter back in the hotel later to arrange for the pick up. We went straight to the food court and look out for dinner. It was extremely though to find food that meets our taste and language doesn’t help much. After 30 minutes of strolling, we found a stall with seafood but they didn’t have menu in English. Oh dear… Oh dear… it took us almost 1 full hour to place an order. We don’t speak Portugese and they don’t speak English… it was like chicken and duck talk. But it was rather funny too…

When we got our order, it was totally different from what we expected. M said it looked like food for the prisoners. We took a few pictures of the food. I will put them here later. As M’s food was the one came first, H and I decided to change our order. And good enough they are ok with the changes. Mine turned out to be a bit better than M but still it’s out of our taste. H’s turned out to be like cheese puff even though she thought she order squid. We laughed like mad and it has become a joke of the day. We managed to finish dinner 2 hours later.

By the time we left the stall it was almost 9.30pm. We didn’t have the time to go for window shopping anymore. Just made it to the groceries store and grabbed a few bottles of mineral water and headed straight to the entrance where we came in earlier. On the way, we found a public phone. Goshhhhh!! The driver didn’t tell us that the public phone here only accept calling card instead of coins!!! We tried… we tried really hard to get the calling card later by asking people around us but it didn’t help at all. We walked back and forth tried to talk to a few people but nobody knew what we are talking and we didn’t know what they were saying. At the end, we just went outside to the parking pay booth and asked for possibility to get a common cab. The parking attendants were nice and they helped us to hitch a cab. We made it back at 10pm. We were so tired and the jetlag didn’t help either.

Spoke to Q for the first time since in KLIA the other day. I shed tears when I heard her voice. Goshhhh…!! I missed my baby miserably. She said she missed me too. Told her I love her so much and I will hurry home soon. I couldn’t continue as tears were running down my face. Each time I thought of her…I shed tears even as I’m typing this entry now…..
